"Ha!" Paco called out, as Javier was revealed as a clone - with Kiki as the genetic donor! "What did I say? What did I say?"
But then it took another dramatic turn!
"Waaaait," said Jaime, rolling his eyes towards the ceiling. "So. The entire show. All of it. Took place in Kiki's head? And she's really just a normal gorilla at the zoo? Not even like a Grodd type of gorilla?" He laughed. "Oh, they so ripped off St. Otherwhere's ending on that one. I'm amazed it didn't all take place in a snowglobe."
The Scarab chirped.
"What do you mean 'I called it.' You did not call it. You called nothing. You are the caller of absolutely nothing." A pause. "Oh, I wasn't listening. Right. We're attached at the brain and yet somehow I didn't hear you." He laughed at the brazen lie. "You liar. Don't be a sore loser." Another pause. "Well then go ahead and sulk, Mr. Sulky."
"Really, I was right all along," insisted Brenda. "Because I said it was all just stupid and didn't matter. And that is what that ending says, too."
Jaime leaned sideways on the couch so he could prod at Nate's side with his feet, forlornly.
"Nate, all our of hard work. For the last year. The charts, Nate. The charts and the spreadsheets. Our research as to what the ending would be." That they didn't actually do since they usually just talked endlessly about it. He went on dramatically, like someone whose life had been turned upside down, whose dreams had been torn asunder. "Amounted to nothing. So many wasted hours. What are we going to do? They're going to take away what's left of our grant and we'll be out on the street with nothing to show for it."
