Nate wasn't sure whether he should pretend to be Stark or not, for this guy's sake. He seemed to dislike Tony, which, frankly, a lot of people disliked Tony. Hence why, after the Skrull invasion, many were happy to have a new Iron Man.

For now, he decided to be ambiguous about it.
