He'd been a lot of places. Seen some pretty weird stuff on other planets. Sam was used to bizarre landscapes that would make the average Earthling stop and stare; you got used to that stuff after the first dozen planets or so.
But some things were constants. Gravity might be stronger or weaker on other planets, but it behaved the same way. So something like this...it didn't speak to any kind of planet that would normally exist. Another dimension did make more sense the more he saw. It would explain how they got there from completely different places with no memory of the journey.
