It's a good thing that she resists the urge, because he wouldn't be nearly so patient with a human as he is for the childlike elves.

He swivels his head to look at her when he hears her talking to the elves, but doesn't make any other movement to acknowledge her. He just stares at her with those black bird eyes.

And then she actually talks to him. He blinks--his eyelids are blue--and looks away immediately, feathers fluffing out in what could be any number of emotions because he's a bird and what do fluffed feathers even mean for birds.

He doesn't talk for just a second too long, prolonging an awkward silence without seeming to mean to.

"Nageki. Fujishiro Nageki," he says when he seems to remember that he's expected to respond. "I haven't been here very long."
