[LN] Colonel Sanders in the house
The thing with superspeed and cooking was that it was great for food prep but it still took just as long for things to cook as they always did. Kon had tried heatvision in the past, to speed things along, but that'd always had disastrous results. Using it to warm food, though, that worked and that was how he reheated the first batch of fried chicken he'd made after he finished the last batch. He also used it to reheat the gravy.
It was a proper gravy, a creamy sawmill gravy. He was crazy proud of his gravy. He'd never been able to replicate Ma's cooking 100% but he sure came close with the gravy.
The lounge area had lots of comfy chairs and was an ideal place for people to relax and hang out while eating fried chicken so he set up shop near all the comfy couches, putting down plate after plate of fried chicken and biscuits. The biscuits had been made in a massive batch and had been left warming in the oven so they nice and warm and flaky.
He danced around as he finished cooking his massive chicken dinner to one of those ipod stereos. He had an ipod full of girly pop that he'd nicked from the lab. At first he thought it was maybe Honey Lemon's but when he saw that the playlist names had somehow been programmed in Interlac, he figured out it was Lyle or Brainy's. In the past, their inclination towards girly pop music was something he might have ribbed them over but now? Now he danced around and sang to Katy Perry's "Roar" like nobody's business.
Between the music and the smell of delicious fried chicken and biscuits, most of the myths at the Pole would come see what the fuss was about but in case some of them didn't, Kon had made a whole tray of biscuits as a treat for the elves and he used them as a preemptive reward for getting the others.
"Go, my minions!" he cried out, tossing biscuits to them. "Go and get the others so they may feast!"
Out of gratitude for the delicious biscuits, they saluted him and spread out to bring everyone's attention to the glorious spread. Anyone that came to see what the fuss was about would be treated to an early dinner of delicious fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, and for the vegetarians among them (like Lyle and Brainy), grits, collard greens, black-eyed peas, and mashed potatoes.
Yes, he'd gone all out. It was almost Easter and that meant a few people would be having an Easter here instead of with their families, right? So it'd be a good one. He also figured doing it before Easter was a good idea in case Bunny needed their help or something on actual Easter Day.
When people started showing up, they were treated to the sight of a rather spectacular feast and the sight of Kon dancing around between the lounge and the kitchen as he finished making one last boatload of gravy and cleaned up. He was wearing an apron that said 'Kiss my grits!'
"Go ahead and tuck in," he said to people as they started showing up. "It's Before-Easter Dinner! And while I can't claim I'm as good a cook as the lady I learned to cook from, who I learned to cook from is a genuine Kansas farmer so it's still finger-lickin' good."

It'd only been the one day. The day he'd decided the world was crazy and he wanted off.
"Funny thing is? A superhero friend of mine's mom was her costar."
It wasn't like he needed to protect Robbie's ID here. Peter could just look it up and after Stamford, it was public knowledge back home anyway. Speedball was "the most hated man in America," after all.
"Small world, right?"

"So, so MJ's an actress too? What kind of things has she been in? Was she an actress first, or a model?" Actress, Peter would have thought, but with all of this multiverse craziness, who even knows?

He did remember her. Slightly. She was pretty damn gorgeous, striking enough to stick out even among supermodels.
He added, "She was pretty good in Secret Hospital, though. Soap operas aren't really my thing but I think I saw an interview once where she seemed really sweet. But I caught an episode or two and she played this real nasty character on the show and you'd never have guessed they were the same person."
He dug around in his memory. Clearly this Peter was sweet on his version of Mary Jane so he understood why he was excited to find this stuff out. But fashion and modeling and soap operas weren't things Rich had ever taken an interest in.
"Actually I remember something bad happened because of it, where some crazy fan attacked her because they were mad over what her character did. I know I saw that on the news. But they said she wasn't hurt or anything. She was still in some model stuff and movies after."
She shook his head.
"Unfortunately, that's all I really know. I never took much of an interest in that stuff - or even the news. I was always busy superheroing, scraping by in my normal life since I was dirt poor, or up in space doing something or the other.""

Was the other him helping to keep an eye out for her, there? He hoped he was. (Right now he was definitely making a mental note of 'watch out for insane fans if MJ ever becomes ridiculously famous', that's for sure.)
"It's okay. To be honest it's amazing you know anything about her at all. I mean, you're from a whole different universe, and yet you know MJ's future career. That's just weird."

Hes grinned at him.
"Although, judging from your age, you've probably got a long road to go down before you're anything like him. That's how it works with people like us, though. I started out just this ordinary, boring kid from Long Island." He raised his eyebrows. "Then I wound up the equivalent of a five-star general leading a few hundred species in a galactic space war."
no subject
"How...how do you end up as a general in an intergalactic space war? Like...we don't can't even travel to other planets yet! Wait, do we get space travel in the near future? Please tell me we have space travel in the near future. That would be like, all of my birthdays all at once."

He went on, "See, the way I got my powers was there was this alien, an officer in this intergalactic police force, who chased this space pirate to Earth's solar system. He was dying, and back then, there weren't quite as many superheroes. I mean, the world's teeming with 'em now and there were a few teams like the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, but he was still afraid Zor would wreck Earth like Xandar so he gave his power as a Centurion to an Earthling completely at random. Hoping that it'd help make it so Earth was just a little better prepared."
He gestured to himself with his thumb.
"I was with my girlfriend eating some ice cream at our favorite after-school joint and got hit by an alien ray beam from space. It was like something right out of a sci fi novel."
