[LN] The Doct - er, General Is In
Step number one of taking over leadership from Bunny was getting as informed as possible. That was why Rich had commandeered a room to essentially use as an office. It was now packed with books and scrolls to study to get a handle on the lore, magical mechanics, and history of this world.
He'd also managed to get his hands on a tablet to use as a datapad. One lucky thing about the technology he'd used during the war was that he was already used to typing one-handed, due to the datapads they'd used during the war being pretty small. And he was left-handed so he still had his dominant hand.
Still, what he wouldn't give for the medicos he had during the war. He'd lost a leg once, during the bombardment on Daedalus 5, and they'd grown him a new one in the space of a few days. Sadly, they didn't have the technological resources here for organ cloning, even if they possibly had people with the right expertise to do it. They probably had the resources to make him a decent prosthetic to use outside of battle, though, and that was something he planned on requesting.
Something else he needed besides all the lore and info on the enemy was data on all the people here. Skill sets, powers, fighting experience and so on.
So, for the ones Bunny wasn't able to give him info on, Rich was calling them in for a little interview. Each time, he introduced himself (to the ones he hadn't already met, at least) and explained the situation.
"I called you in here because Bunny's going to be relinquishing leadership of our little band of misfits to me as soon as I'm caught up on everything, so one thing I need to do is find out what everyone can do. I just have a few questions to ask you. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions of me."

One grownup in charge was as good as another, as far as Mabel was concerned. She and Dipper were probably still going to do what they did, and clearly the Easter Bunny's efforts were better focused on stuff like Easter than figuring out how to lead a galactic war, so she was just as pleased to meet Rich as to meet any other adult who knew how to handle this sort of universe-threatening stuff.
"Look what I can do!"
She launched straight into a demonstration of all her flashy powers, a rainbow tower of light bursting forth around her to pierce the heavens while Aoshima swam in graceful arcs through the air, chattering his inspiring chatter. Mabel punched the air, filling it with mewing kitten fists as Kraz and Xyler rose up on an elevated stage behind her, playing the keytaur-and-drums power ballads that no one on the side of JUSTICE could fail to feel stronger, more courageous, more full of inspiration, upon hearing.
Mabel beheld her own spectacle and cried a single, awed, glittery tear.

That was...huh.
Whatever part of his brain was responsible for being shocked by strange things was stretched to full capacity (like it so often was) and then it simply snapped. And he adjusted. (Like he always did.)
He typed away on his tablet.
"So your power is that you're basically a walking Lisa Frank binder?"
It actually wasn't that surprising, given the nature of all their powers. Some of them seemed very...personalized. And she was a little girl.

She whipped from behind her back a personalized Santa hat, swirling with galactic glitter and gold pipe cleaners bent into shapes that coordinated with Rich's uniform.
"Welcome to the Guardians, Fearless Leader! Here is your complimentary hat."

"Wow, this is...this is adorable."
It was. It was goddamn adorable. He hadn't been around anything adorable in ages. Space bugs and intergalactic wars and death and genocide and the Phalanx borging people and dying universes - none of that was adorable.
So he popped the hat right on his head, apparently not at all fussed over whether or not he looked silly or unleaderly.
It wasn't like he was all that selective with his head-wear, anyway, what with going around with a stupid bucket on his head all the time.
"This looks way better than the bucket I usually wear."
Much more sparkly.
"So I'm gonna need to go through some things with you. With the powers, what does each power do? Like the rainbows, what kinda effect do they have on the bad guys and is it the same with each kind of bad guy? Like do your powers effect fearlings differently than people?"
