Nothing made sense.
Nothing made any sense at all.
Why was Pearl here and not home in Beach City where she was just a moment ago? What city is this? How far is she from the coast? How did she even get here? Pearl only deals well with one problem at a time, and maybe she could deal with the location change if she knew where she was now or if she knew why or how or or or...
There were people all around her and not a single one of them seemed to be paying attention to her slowly building breakdown. Was that fine? Did she need the help? She needed something, that much was clear.
She bounded in front of a reasonably respectable looking human in two strides, the uneven pavement starting to hurt her feet and she idly wondered why don't humans maintain things after they build them?
“Excuse me, sir,” she said as she kept pace with him, “My name is Pearl, and I am a Crystal Gem. I'm trying to determine exactly what fluctuation in the universe has left me here -I'm fairly sure I'm at least a few miles from home- so if you could please-”
He walked right through her, as though she was an apparition.
"...tell me why I've become incorporeal?!"
And that is why Pearl is currently pacing in circles in the middle of the sidewalk, head in hands, unable to decide which problem can be reasonably dealt with first, and getting down to some serious freaking out.
