She had some big decisions to make; it could change her whole life. She knew Jason cared for her but the things he’d done, what he’d been willing to do… she couldn’t condone that. Even if it felt good to have that kind of contact in her life, he wasn’t the guy for her. Hell guys weren’t the guy for her.
She had to come to terms with the feelings that had been growing since she started to get close to Goliath. They were friends, but there was so much more to it than that. Especially now, she trusted him with her life maybe it was time she trusted him with her heart as well.

She shoved her hands deep into her pockets as she walked. Long shadows of skyscrapers grew ever longer on the street. The heat of summer still radiating off the pavement made her long for the cool of night. The sun was setting soon and she could talk to the gargoyle then, and they would have a lot to talk about.

She was walking, just walking with her gaze on her shoes and a ghost of a smile on her lips. She’d kissed him this morning, spent the day thinking and wondering what the future might hold for such an unconventional pairing. She was walking and suddenly the air felt different, the heat haze was gone. The sounds and presence of acrid car exhaust was missing from the clean crisp air.

“Whoa.” Elisa jerked her head up and around, no skyline, and no traffic noise. It looked like a quaint small town with all the white picket fences and open sky. “I thought all this world traveling business was done.” She grumbled and looked down the street for some indication of where she was. A newspaper stand was as good as any. She peered through the window at a paper.

“Burgess, Pennsylvania? Where the heck is that?”

The mission before them was simple enough - fight their way through defenses of the physical and magical sort, possibly with some riddles thrown in for good measure, in order to find a book . . . that annotated a book they already had.

Well, one could never have too much knowledge. It was a mission requiring as much muscle as magic, so Goliath understood why he had been elected for the task. That meant the young human with the snowglobe must have been there to supply the magic.

"You seem young to be a sorcerer," Goliath commented, inspecting his mission partner with curiosity, not disbelief.

Upon being brought to the pole by his new allies, Goliath made his first beeline for their missing host's library. To work with stories out of legend was not new to him, though he had thought he had left living fairy tales behind when he abandoned the boat of Avalon for home again. Truly, there was more in heaven and earth - in, apparently, many earths - than he had dreamt of.

While being caught out of time and place again, and alone of his clan this time, did not sit well with him, this was not the first time he had protected his clan at a distance. The universe needed saving, and as before, he had been brought where he was needed to help save it.

He only wished the rest of the clan had been brought with him. Particularly to a world where they were acknowledged as the protectors they were, and not things to be feared in the night.

In the library, he found more than enough references to keep him busy for several nights. There were so many tales and myths to reference that he had never heard of, tales he believed, upon reading a few, that no mortal had been privy to for a long, long time.

If all the universe was made up of stories, Goliath intended to learn as many new ones as quickly as he could.
